The O’s Light Up The Yard

June 14, 2023 by Orioles Hangout

The Baltimore Orioles lit up the city skyline on Tuesday with an 11-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. There were plenty of fireworks as the Birds belted four homeruns in the game. Add four doubles to the festivities and it certainly was a wet night in the Bird Bath section.

How does a player follow up having hit the longest Eutaw St. homerun in Camden Yards history? A grand slam in the next game, of course! Gunnar Henderson, the AL Player of the Week, did exactly that in the third inning. Henderson’s grand slam was part of a six run outburst in the inning and he finished the game 3 for 5 with a run scored and 4 RBI.

Adam Frazier (2 for 5, 1 HR, 1 Run, 3 RBI) started the homerun fireworks in the second inning. Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 5, 1 HR, 1 Run, 2 RBI) preceded Henderson’s salami with a homer of his own. Aaron Hicks (2 for 4, 1 HR, 2 Runs, 1 RBI, 1 BB) capped it off with his fourth inning homerun.

Keeping the fans hydrated were Adley Rutschman (2 for 5) and Austin Hays (2 for 5, 2 Runs) who each doubled twice.

Anthony Santander went 2 for 5 with a run scored and 1 RBI.

Dean Kremer (7-3) gave the O’s a quality start (6.0 IP, 2 R, 8 H, 6 K) and was the pitcher of record.

Bryan Baker (1 H, 1 K) pitched the seventh inning, but unfortunately it took three relievers (Austin Voth, Cionel Perez and Mike Baumann) to navigate the final two innings. The trio combined to allow 4 runs on 6 hits (1 HR) with 3 walks and a strikeout. Leading 11-2 entering the eighth, the thought certainly was not to use three bullpen arms.

BOX SCORE

2023 Record: 42-24

Next Game: Wed. 6/14 @ 7:05 pm vs. Blue Jays @ OPACY
