The Orioles play an early one with Corbin Burnes getting the ball again.
Here we are. The Orioles find themselves trying to avoid a sweep by one of the worst teams in baseball. I hate writing that.
At least they are giving themselves the best chance to do so with this matchup. Former NL Cy Young Corbin Burnes will take the game ball. He’s basically not had a bad start this season (arguably his worst was when he allowed four runs against Houston in seven innings), and in 20 starts he’s completed six innings 17 times and given up two or fewer runs 15 times. Conclusion: Corbin Burnes is good at baseball.
We are not ones to underestimate opposing starters, but I’ll take my chances with Burnes against Roddery Muñoz, a 24-year-old rookie from the Dominican Republic. In 11 starts totaling 56 innings, Muñoz has a 1-5 record, 5.14 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. To judge by his BaseballSavant page, the rookie has good fastball velocity but hasn’t been good at much else. He has a fastball sinker cutter trio that he throws pretty much in equal proportion.
