Zach Eflin will look to remain undefeated in a Baltimore uniform as the Orioles start a four-game set against the Red Sox.
Zach Eflin pitched like the prize of the trade deadline in his first three starts. While Trevor Rogers has struggled, Eflin holds a 3-0 record in a Baltimore uniform. He’ll look to notch his fourth consecutive victory with the Birds tonight against Boston.
The Red Sox will arrive after blowing a three-run lead in the ninth last night. Boston will send out Nick Pivetta (5-7, 4.44 ERA) this evening. You can find a full preview of the pitching matchups in the series preview.
Colton Cowser will lead off and play left field for the Orioles. Anthony Santander will take right, and Cedric Mullins will play up the middle.
Adley Rutschman will serve as the DH with James McCann catching Eflin. Ryan O’Hearn will play first base, which sends Ryan Mountcastle to the bench. Gunnar Henderson will play shortstop with Jackson Holliday taking second base.
Ramón Urías will start at third base with Coby Mayo back at Triple-A. The Orioles recalled Livan Soto to add more flexibility in the infield and provide Mayo a reset.
