Rain, rain, go away…
I always want the Orioles and Giants to play each other in the World Series on Halloween. So much orange and black! It won’t happen this year, with the Giants in fourth place in their division. But maybe one day.
This is the last series the Orioles play against an under. 500 team this year. Will they make the most of it? Albert Suárez, known to some as the ace of this team, takes the mound opposite Blake Snell of the Giants. If I told you before this season started that, in mid-September, Albert Suárez would have a lower ERA than Blake Snell, what would you say? I think I would say, “Who is Albert Suárez?”
That’s not to say Snell is having a bad year, because he is not. Snell has given up just one home run since the start of August and has a 1.83 ERA in that time. He’s made eight starts in that time, one of which was a no-hitter.
He also had a few weird starts in that span though. One where he came out after three innings in which he didn’t allow a hit and walked six. Another in which he threw 42 pitches in the first inning and didn’t return. But those are outliers.
In strange lineup news for the Orioles, Coby Mayo is playing first base. Gunnar has been dropped to third, which I don’t care for. And Jackson Holliday is on the bench in favor of Livan Soto yet again. Maybe it’ll work out? I’m tired of lineup shuffles.
