Trevor Rogers looks to make a better impression in his second start with the Orioles.
Trevor Rogers disappointed in his first start with the Orioles. Now, with Grayson Rodriguez heading to the injured list, Baltimore needs the trade acquisition to step up in the second half.
Rogers allowed five runs and failed to complete five innings against the Guardians last week. The lefty had not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his previous nine starts.
Keegan Akin and Bryan Baker both returned to Baltimore’s bullpen earlier today. Heston Kjerstad and Jacob Webb joined Rodriguez on the injured list.
Colton Cowser will return to the leadoff spot and play center field. Anthony Santander will follow in right, and Gunnar Henderson will play shortstop.
Ryan Mountcastle will play first base and Eloy Jiménez will start as the designated hitter. The moves push Ryan O’Hearn to left field in Toronto.
Adley Rutschman will bat fifth while catching Rogers. Rookies Jackson Holliday and Coby Mayo will complete the lineup.
Toronto will look to clinch the series with RHP Bowden Francis (4-3, 5.64 ERA) taking the mound.
