Answer: Chris, I don’t know if the Orioles have reached out to Bruce Bochy, who left the Texas Rangers, but I certainly agree that he would be someone to strongly consider.
He’s won four World Series and has earned universal respect around baseball. It would be interesting if the Orioles hired a 70-year-old manager.
We don’t know whether he’s still interested in managing.
Mike Elias is attempting to keep the managerial selection process secretive, so we really don’t have a complete list of candidates.
Question: What are your thoughts on Micah Ashman? He looked like a nice left-handed pitching prospect at Double-A Chesapeake? He’s listed at 6 feet 7, 195 pounds. From: Paul Tavares
Answer: Paul, Micah Ashman was obtained from Detroit at the trade deadline in exchange for Charlie Morton.
In 13 games with the Baysox, Ashman was 0-1 with a 4.80 ERA and two saves. His most impressive stat was striking out 23 batters while walking four in 15 innings.
Ashman was pitching in only his second year of professional ball, and if he maintains that dazzling strike/walk ratio, he could be a real find.
