Vox Media entered into a partnership with STN Video which gives us highlights for the NBA and WNBA, which began yesterday.

You may have seen yesterday and today that there are auto-videos playing in the main image. This is not an accident or a trojan horse invading the site.
That’s because Vox Media, SB Nation’s parent company, entered into a partnership with STN Video, which provides video content based on AI matching with the keywords to the content in our blog entries and our site in general.
What kind of video content will play?
Here are some of the videos that STN will play in place of our main image
- Washington Wizards and Mystics game highlights
- Press conference highlights
- Top plays in the NBA and WNBA in general
- Fantasy videos NOT related to betting.
When possible, STN Video will play the most recent video content that is related to the subject of the appropriate blog entry.
And yes, we have the ability to remove the video and I will do so with some of our content, like Matt Modderno’s piece on reactions to the Wizards getting the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. But for the most part, videos will play with our text-only peices.
What if the video is playing irrelevant content?
In general, given that this video partnership just started, I have noticed that the highlights of the Mystics vs. Liberty game are being played across all of our content, including our NBA Draft content after the Wizards received the No. 2 pick in the 2024 Draft.
This is a glitch given that the Wizards haven’t played a game in a month, they had a very quiet offseason until recently and our site ranks very well with Mystics content. Also, their season just began.
If the Wizards were in the NBA Playoffs right now, we would have Wizards videos playing after game recaps like Canis Hoopus, which covers the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx.
I have already given my feedback to the higher ups, so hopefully we’ll see some tweaks soon.
