The rookie is making progress even though he isn’t the Wizards’ most featured player at the moment.
Washington Wizards forward Bilal Coulibaly is entering the middle of his rookie season. He has also become a more confident performer on offense in the month of December.
So far this season, Coulibaly is averaging 8.7 points and 4 rebounds per game on 53 percent shooting overall. But he’s also averaging over 40 percent from the three point line while averaging over one made three per game. And he has also been a good shot blocker for his position, getting six blocks in his first three games.
In December, Coulibaly averaged 28.3 minutes of playing time. But he also shot 69.6 percent from the field to average 12.3 points and grab 5.3 rebounds per game. Coulibaly has not shot below 60 percent from the field in any of Washington’s last three games.
There is one reason why Coulibaly’s numbers are so efficient: he’s only averaging 6.2 shots per game, good for just seventh on the Wizards. Currently, Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole average a combined 34 shot attempts per game. If Coulibaly made more shot attempts, his field goal percentage would likely go down.
But even then, I still think Coulibaly has done a good job so far this season and he is making progress. While the Wizards aren’t winning many games this season, Coulibaly’s development should be a top priority. So far, he’s on the right track.
