Draymond Green was almost traded to Memphis?

May 18, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Logan Murdock: I know that there was a deal in place to send Draymond to Memphis, and the return on that would have been interesting. It’s so interesting that Steven Adams was the catalyst to almost beating them in the first round—because in that trade, Steven Adams would have come back to Golden State. Along with Dillon Brooks—I heard that as well—Tyus Jones, and a couple other people. But the reason why that deal fell through is because Tyus Jones got rerouted to Washington, and it no longer made the deal work. That’s something they wanted—they really wanted a backup point guard.

Steve Kerr: “I don’t want to start next season with Draymond as our starting center. I think it’s doable for the last 30 games like we did this year, but you see the toll it takes on him.” – 5:40 PM

Things didn’t go the Warriors’ way this time.
But they now believe they can win a championship.
And belief is a powerful thing for Steph, Draymond and Jimmy.

I would love to know the hit rate on prospects compared to Draymond Green. I feel like there are multiple Draymond comps every year and almost nobody actually like him in the league – 3:48 PM

Asked if he views this as a two-year window, Stephen Curry says that with him, Steve Kerr, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler all aligned for two more years, you just want “the ride” to last as long as it can. – 3:01 PM

More on this storyline

Mitchell Robinson and Steven Adams lead the playoffs in fgOR% (the percentage of their team’s missed field goals that they personally rebounded), with 7-foot-4 rookie Zach Edey ranking fourth. All three are clear signs of the return of the big, physical, pound-the-glass center — a player type that looked nearly extinct at the height of the 5-out, spread-the-floor era. -via Diggin’ Basketball / May 15, 2025
In an average NBA season, slightly more than half the playoff games will be in the first round (there are 15 total series, and we’re already done with eight of them), so it’s a good time to examine the playoff trend line. We have a few second-round games thrown in for good measure. (All data is entering Wednesday’s games.) Here’s the thing: I can’t really find anything in the numbers to suggest that these playoffs have been any more physical than the last two. Fouls and free throws have both increased from the regular season. Those alone are a bad indicator, as they can be skewed by late-game take fouls (hello, Thunder fans) and hack-a strategies (take a bow, Mitchell Robinson and Steven Adams), both of which are historically more common in the playoffs. -via New York Times / May 8, 2025
Andrew Bogut on Lakers free agency: Can Steven Adams start with his body over 82 games? I don’t know. That’s the issue. I think he’s definitely got some injury issues that are going to be long term. Clint Capela is a good one. He’s been relatively healthy for the most part of his career. Hasn’t had any really bad injuries. Real good lob threat. Great shot blocker. That’s definitely an option as well. -via YouTube / May 5, 2025
