The Washington Mystics rookie forward averaged a double double in the first month of her professional career.
Kiki Iriafen has been named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Month for May 2025. Selected fourth overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Iriafen quickly made her presence felt on the court. In her debut month, she averaged 13.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game, shooting an impressive 47.4 percent from the field. Her rebounding prowess not only led all rookies but also ranked fourth across the entire league.
Also, from May 18 to May 25, she recorded four consecutive double-doubles, becoming the first Mystics rookie to achieve this feat.
Iriafen’s early performances have drawn comparisons to WNBA legends. She is one of only six players in league history to average at least 10.0 points and 10.0 rebounds through the first seven games of their career, joining the ranks of Tina Charles, Candace Parker, and Yolanda Griffith.
Her impact has been instrumental in the Mystics’ improved start to the season, showcasing the potential of Washington’s young roster. With Iriafen leading the charge along with fellow rookie guard Sonia Citron, the future looks promising for the Mystics as they build upon this momentum.
