Kristaps Porzingis said he was surprised by the trade that sent him from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards. But that after that initial shock wore off, he’s happy to be with the Wizards.
“At first, it’s always a surprise. You’re never prepared for it, and it’s a roller coaster of emotions. … A lot of good energy, a lot of excitement. … I’m excited to be here in D.C.”
When asked what he has to prove with Washington, Porzingis said staying healthy is at the top of the list.
“One is staying on the floor consistently. Now that I’m healthy and I’m moving well, that’s the thing I have to prove.”
Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard said that Bradley Beal is excited about the team’s new acquisitions. Sheppard said that he sees Beal and Porzingis as his team’s version of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
