The Washington Mystics’ Associate Head Coach is moving on after the team made its front office changes.
On Monday, the Atlanta Dream announced that Latoya Sanders will be an assistant coach on their team. Sanders will be part of Head Coach Karl Smesko’s staff.
Sanders was previously the Mystics’ Associate Head Coach on Eric Thibault’s staff from 2023-24, and was also an assistant coach in the 2022 season. Before her coaching career, Sanders played for the Mystics and was the starting center on their 2019 WNBA championship team.
This news is not surprising because the Mystics named Sydney Johnson as their new head coach in late December. With his arrival, he can hire his coaching staff as he sees fit. Likewise, it also makes sense for Sanders to find a fresh start with another team.
