Mystics fall short against the Minnesota Lynx, who were without Napheesa Collier.
The Washington Mystics lost to the Minnesota Lynx, 74-67 on Saturday night.
The Mystics got off to a slow start in this one, thanks to some sloppy play. The team combined for 8 first quarter turnovers. As the game went on, the Mystics got their bearings together and was able to turn things around. Their defense really stood out as they were able to hold the Lynx to just 11 points in the 2nd quarter, including holding Minnesota to 1 for 10 from behind the 3 point line. This help get them back in the game and walk into halftime tied at 36-36, after being down by as much as 14 points.
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough came out, off the bench, once again, on fire, hitting 15 points in the first half. This marked the 4th game in the past 5 games of her scoring 15 or more points. Unfortunately for Shatori, the Lynx were able to take her out of the game. She only attempted two shots in the 2nd half, both were misses, making her a non-factor.
This game was ultimately decided by the Mystics going cold in the 4th quarter, only registering 10 points for whole quarter while shooting 4 for 18 from the field. This team has struggled to find consistency with multiple scorers throughout the season. The injuries have done this team no favors this season, and they continue to lose games where they either have leads or are tied at halftime. Tonight was the latest example.
The Mystics dropped their second straight game. Washington will be in Indiana on Wednesday for a 12 Noon game against the Fever.
