Learn which events will be broadcast on which network from 2025 to 2036.

Earlier this week, the NBA officially announced that they have a new 11 year media rights deal with The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal and Amazon beginning in 2025. The WNBA also announced that they have a new media rights deal with the same three companies.

Here is a breakdown by league of what each company will have.

NBA starting in 2025-26

The Walt Disney Company (ABC/ESPN networks)

  • 80 games per season. There will be 20 on ABC on Saturday nights/Sunday afternoons. 60 games will be on ESPN on Wednesday and Friday nights.
  • The Christmas Day games remain on Disney networks.
  • Will air about 18 first and second round playoff games per year.
  • Will air one of the two conference finals in 10 of 11 years.
  • The NBA Finals will remain on ABC only for the whole deal.
  • Will air about half of NBA Summer League Games

NBCUniversal (NBC, USA, Peacock)

  • This song is back, Millennials. Great for most NBA fans, but it was most popular during the Washington Wizards’ mostly dark ages of the 1990s, minus the 1997 playoffs between the then-Bullets and Chicago Bulls.
  • About 100 regular season games per season (50 on NBC, on Sunday and Tuesday nights. Peacock will stream Monday night double headers.)
  • Opening night doubleheaders will only be on NBC
  • Will air all NBA All-Star Weekend events for the whole deal
  • Will air about 28 first and second round playoff games per year.
  • Will air one of the two conference finals in 6 of 11 years starting in 2025-26.
  • USA Basketball men’s national team games will be aired solely on NBCU networks.
  • Oh yeah, you can see former Entertainment Tonight host and pop keyboarding artist John Tesh, the composer of the original NBA on NBC perform it at a concert below. He even talked about how this came about!

Amazon (Prime Video)

  • About 66 regular season games per season (Generally on Thursday and Friday nights. Some Saturday games as well.
  • Will air the Emirates NBA Cup elimination stage games for the whole deal
  • Will air NBA Play-In Tournament games for the whole deal
  • Will air about one-third of first and second round playoff games per year
  • Will air one of the two conference finals in 6 of 11 years starting in 2026-27.
  • Will air about half of NBA Summer League games.
  • Games will be able to be streamed internationally beyond the U.S. and Canada.

WNBA starting in 2026

The Walt Disney Company (ABC/ESPN networks)

  • 25 or more games per season on networks.
  • Will air two first round playoff series
  • Will air eight WNBA Semifinals series
  • Will air five WNBA Finals series
  • Will continue to air ALL WNBA All-Star Weekend events
  • Will continue to air the WNBA Draft

NBCUniversal (NBC, USA, Peacock)

  • 50 or more games per season on networks
  • Will air one first round playoff series
  • Will air seven WNBA Semifinals series

  • USA Basketball women’s national team games will be aired solely on NBCU networks.
  • Yes, interpolations of John Tesh’s song were on the WNBA on NBC theme from 1997-2002. I’m guessing that this has to be back in some form, right?

Amazon (Prime Video)

  • 30 or more games per season on netowkrs
  • Will air one first round playoff series
  • Will air seven WNBA Semifinals series
  • Will air three WNBA Finals seres
  • Will continue to air the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship game.
  • Games will be able to be streamed internationally beyond the U.S. and Canada.
