Here’s how you can see Team Canada in their southern neighbor!
Washington Mystics fans, three players are on Olympic teams! Today, we’ll go over Aaliyah Edwards and the Canada women’s national basketball team roster, schedule, and how to watch their games here in the USA / Les États-Unis d’Amérique !
Canada women’s national team roster
Here is the women’s national team roster, along with the team each player is on:
- AALIYAH EDWARDS, F, WASHINGTON MYSTICS
- Natalie Achonwa, F, Free Agent (Last team: Minnesota Lynx)
- Kayla Alexander, C, Valencia Basket (Spanish Liga Femenina)
- Laeticia Amihere, F, Atlanta Dream
- Bridget Carleton, F, Minnesota Lynx
- Shay Colley, G, Bourges Basket (French LFB)
- Yvonne Ejim, F, Gonzaga Bulldogs (NCAA Division I)
- Nirra Fields, G, Izmit Belediyespor (Turkish KBSL)
- Sami Hill, G, Araski (Spanish Liga Femenina)
- Kia Nurse, G, Los Angeles Sparks
- Cassandre Prosper, G, Notre Dame Fighting Irish (NCAA Division I)
- Syla Swords, G, Michigan Wolverines (NCAA Division I)
Team Canada has a lot of players with WNBA experience. Four, including Edwards, are on WNBA teams this season. Nurse was an All-Star in the 2019 WNBA season. Alexander and Achonwa have also played in the WNBA previously, with the latter missing the 2023 season due to pregnancy.
I find it interesting that Canada has three players who are (or will play for) NCAA Division I programs but are still Olympians on the senior team. Swords is a five-star recruit who played high school basketball in New York before committing to Michigan. Ejim could have played in the WNBA this year but decided to stay a fifth year in college. Prosper is now in her junior season at Notre Dame.
Canada’s game schedule
Team Canada is in Group B. Times are in US Eastern Time. France, the host country operates in Central European Time, which is six hours ahead. So a 2 p.m. ET game is at 8 p.m. CET locally.
- Monday, July 29: France at 11:15 a.m. ET
- Thursday, Aug. 1: Australia at 7:30 a.m. ET
- Sunday, Aug. 4: Nigeria at 7:30 a.m. ET
Where are the games?
Group stage games are at Decathlon Arena in Lille but the elimination games are at Accor Arena in Paris.
How do I watch the games here in America?
I’m answering this question for our U.S. based readers. Team Canada’s games can only be streamed on Peacock (subscription required). The elimination stage games will be aired on USA, E! or NBC.
If you are a Canadian reading this page, CBC is the Canadian network showing Olympic events.
