This is a mild surprise, but it’s an acknowledgement of the Washington Wizards guard’s improvement from last season.
Washington Wizards guard ranked in the Top 10 in the first round of 2025 NBA All-Star Game fan voting. He was 8th place!

Even if Poole finished in the Top 2, he is not guaranteed to be a starter. That’s because of what I call the NBA Electoral College. Fans get 50 percent of the weight toward starter votes, the media gets 25 percent and the players get another 25 percent. When it comes to All-Star voting, I am a man of the people. I want 100 percent of the votes to go to the fans, no matter what for All-Star starters.
But I digress.
It isn’t realistic to see Poole finish in the Top 2 of the All-Star vote. After all, the Wizards are the worst team in the Eastern Conference. Still, Poole is averaging a career-high 21.7 points per game and making 41 percent of his three point shots (3.6 makes out of 8.9 attempts). Poole is also averaging 4.9 assists per game.
In addition, Poole has some residual starpower because he played for the Golden State Warriors from 2019-23 where he won one championship with them in the 2021-22 season.
