The Washington Mystics started the season with 12 consecutive losses (14 if you count the preseason…). The closest one came against the other lottery-bound team, the Indiana Fever, however the Mystics managed to lose that one as well.

The upside is that seven of these losses were by 7 or fewer points. There were actually 3 losses by 3 or less. So perhaps the team is not as bad as it record suggests. Perhaps it’s a just a learning year. A tanking experience.

It seems unlikely the first win will come against the Dream in Atlanta. But it’s not completely impossible: the Dream lost 4 times this season and 3 of those losses came at home.
