Pregame notes
The Washington Mystics (4-6) are coming off their largest victory — a 37-point win over the Connecticut Sun — since their championship season. The red-hot 6-3 Atlanta Dream, winners of five of their last six contests, stand in the way of Washington’s mini winning streak.
The Mystics topped the Dream 94-90 in the season opener back on May 16. Brittany Sykes led the way with 22 points and rookie Sonia Citron added 19 as Washington got off to a 1-0 start.
Despite leaving with the win, Washington struggled to contain Atlanta’s frontcourt. Brittney Griner and Allisha Gray combined for 43 points and 18 rebounds in the loss. Look for the Mystics to be more aggressive on the glass as they look to contain Atlanta’s size down low.
