Pregame notes
The Mystics are playing well lately. They have climbed back to .500 sitting nicely at 10-10.
A lot to be optimistic about if you’re a Mystics fan. Kiki Iriafen, only a rookie, has already been named an All Star. So has Sonia Citron.
In addition, Shakira Austin and Brittney Sykes are playing well and things seem to be clicking. The team has won five of their last seven, including some tough ones against Minnesota and two wins against Las Vegas.
On the other side, the Seattle Storm are sitting at 12-8 and have won six of their last nine. This might be the toughest game the Mystics have on their schedule in the past two weeks, especially given that they are on the road and head afterwards to L.A.
This is the first match between these two ball clubs this season. The second one will happen back in D.C. on July 26, and a final one again in D.C. on August 24.
Clearly, the Mystics are the under-dogs in this one, in fact, they are only given about 23% chance of winning.
