What to watch for
It’s no secret that the Washington Mystics have had a rough start to the season. Despite their slow start, the next two games promise to be a hot ticket with some big names coming to town.
For the game on Thursday, the Mystics will be coming off their franchise record 9th straight loss and remain winless, as they were blown out by the Connecticut Sun. It has been a combination of poor play, especially at the end of games, and some unfortunate injuries, that have hampered the Mystics. The team is hopeful to receive a boost with both Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin possibly returning. Having both would be huge, as they both will play a vital role in any success the team has this season. The return of Sykes would especially be big considering the team has not had her since the 2nd game of the season.
On the other side, the Chicago Sky come into the game, losers of their last two games, including a loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday. The Sky will, of course, be headlined by rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Their presence has brought so much interest to this game, that the game was moved to Capital One Arena.
The question for this game is simple, can the potential return of the Mystics stars give them a boost and help the Mystics pull off their first win?
