The Washington Mystics lost in L.A. to the Sparks on Tuesday. That puts them at 0-4 to start the season which is their worst start in years.
They continue their tough West Coast trip in downtown Phoenix where they face the Griner-less Mercury with a chance to collect their first W. This game will also be notable because the Mystics will play against now-Mercury point guard Natasha Cloud, who signed with Phoenix in free agency last winter.
Unfortunately, the schedule doesn’t get much easier for Washington. After this game, they’ll head to Seattle on Saturday, and then back to D.C. to face the Atlanta Dream next Wednesday before heading on the road for some tough games in New York and Connecticut. The first game where they outright (somewhat) favored to win is against Indiana at home on June 7 in D.C.
Oh well, we all knew this would be a tough season. They continue to manage Shakira Austin’s hip injury while the other starters are mostly bench-level players, and Sykes is still out with her injury.
