Yesterday, the Wizards announced their roster for Summer League. You can read more about on the Hawks’ Summer League roster here.
What to watch for
The biggest storyline is that the Wizards and Hawks had the top two picks in the NBA Draft this year. Atlanta had the top pick which they used to select Zaccharie Risacher while Washington selected Alex Sarr with the second pick. Atlanta’s other draft pick, Nikola Djurisic (No. 43) overall will also play in Summer League, while the Wizards’ other two first round picks, Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George, will also play.
As Greg Finberg wrote yesterday about the Wizards’ Summer League roster, Johnny Davis is back for his third Summer League appearance. This is rare for lottery draft picks, but considering that he hasn’t played well in his first two NBA seasons, this could be a way for him to make a positive statement before next season.
The Summer League team will also be made up largely of players on the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizard’s G League affiliate and the College Park Skyhawks, the Hawks’ G League team with some reinforcements from recent draft picks, mostly form this year’s draft as mentioned above.
It should be an interesting game, and it will be one of the most watched NBA Summer League games this year given that the top two picks in this draft will be representing their new cities.
