The Washington Mystics pulled off a dramatic 91–88 overtime win over the Dallas Wings on Sunday, in one of their most thrilling games of the season. The Mystics came out firing, dominating the first quarter 27–14 behind sharp perimeter shooting from Sug Sutton and Sonia Citron. However, Dallas stormed back in the second quarter with a 31–13 run led by Arike Ogunbowale, who scored 14 of her game-high 27 points during that stretch.
Citron delivered a breakout performance, matching Ogunbowale with 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Kiki Iriafen added 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Shakira Austin contributed a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sutton was perfect from the field, scoring 15 points on 4-of-4 shooting, including three big three-pointers.
The game remained close through the second half, and with 11 seconds left in regulation, Dallas rookie Paige Bueckers hit a deep three to tie it at 84–84 and ultimately the game went to overtime. In the extra period, the Mystics maintained composure, outscoring Dallas 7–4 with Citron making a clutch three point shot with just 12.9 seconds left that ended up being the game winner.

Washington now improves to 6-8 in the 2025 WNBA season while Dallas is 3-12. Sure, the Mystics don’t have the most starpower on paper, but they are playing very well this season under the circumstances. And as I’ve written time and time again this season, the key for this season is for the Mystics to play as a young, cohesive unit that could be attractive for another significant piece who could come in 2026. Remember, nearly every non-rookie contract player is a free agent and it will be the “Wild West” given anticipated salary increases in the WNBA. But I digress.
The Mystics’ next game is on Tuesday when they will head on the road to play the Minnesota Lynx. Tip off is at 8 p.m. ET. See you then.
