It was an exciting game, but Les Bleus came up empty.
The France men’s national basketball team lost to Australia, 83-82 on Sunday evening in Orléans.
Washington Wizards guard Bilal Coulibaly was limited in game action today if you were wondering so he won’t be the focus of this piece.
That said, Victor Wembanyama had a near triple double tonight, with 17 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. He also did so while playing 26 minutes, which isn’t THAT much time when you think about it. Nicolas Batum also added 12 more points.
For the Boomers, this was a big time performance for their stars. Patty Mills scored 24 points while Josh Giddey added 20 more. The Boomers only lost once in their friendlies to the USA Basketball men’s national team, so they’re looking real good coming into Lille next week.
Les Bleus was able to stave off an early Boomers run by getting a lead before halftime, but again, the boomers were able to get momentum in the second half.
France, the silver medalists in the 2020 Olympics three years ago (remember, the games were delayed a year), aren’t looking too hot heading into Lille for the group stage. But anything can happen over the next week.
