The Washington Mystics put together a commanding performance at CareFirst Arena, defeating the Connecticut Sun 104–67. From tip‑off, the Mystics established control—outscoring the Sun 28–21 in the opening quarter—and never looked back. In fact, they never lost a single 10 minute period.
Some notes:
- Brittney Sykes was sensational: 28 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and nearly perfect from the free throw line (14-of-15) in 28 minutes. Sykes also dished 6 assists.
- Aaliyah Edwards delivered 13 points and 7 rebounds off the bench, providing reliable interior play.
- Sonia Citron (11 points, 4 assists) and Sug Sutton (10 points) each chipped in with double-digit scoring.
- Kiki Iriafen contributed 12 points, adding size and intensity on the inside.
Defensively, Washington held Connecticut to just 40 percent shooting and forced 17 turnovers, converting them into easy scoring opportunities . The Sun never recovered, struggling to generate sustained offense, finishing well behind.
This win improves Washington’s record to 4‑6 overall. The Sun on the other hand are now 2-7.
