Mystics drop their 10th straight to start the season
Mystics lose their 10 straight game, losing against the Chicago Sky, 79-71.
Aaliyah Edwards had quite a performance to start his one out, scoring 16 first-half points on a perfect 7 for 7 shooting. She also contributed 3 blocks as well. Her effort on both ends helped the Mystics to build a 9-point, 44-35, lead going into halftime.
Unfortunately, the ‘Stics could not sustain their play. The Sky begin to do a much better job covering the Mystics’ pick and roll plays, forcing a lot of errant passes, and on the offensive end begin getting their rhythm by attacking the basket more and pushing the pace. Quickly the Mystics’ lead begin to evaporate and suddenly were down by 6, 60-54, at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter once again became the straw that broke the camel’s back as the Mystics begin to unravel even more committing 4 turnovers in the final 6 minutes of the game to give the Sky a win on the road. Mystics are now 0-10 on the season with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever coming to town tomorrow night at Capital One Arena.
Aaliyah Edwards with a career performance
Edwards was absolutely amazing tonight. She finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. This was a stellar performance for the rookie and something to build on in the future.
Key Stat of the Game: Turnovers
Mystics finished with 24 turnovers. It doesn’t matter who you play, you won’t win many games with that many turnovers. This team has to play a cleaner game if they are going to start pulling some wins together.
