When it rains, it pours. On Tuesday, the Washington Mystics lost 76-59 to the Connecticut Sun at the Entertainment and Sports arena.
On the one hand, this loss was expected because Washington was the WNBA’s lone winless team while the Sun were the WNBA’s lone undefeated team. But Washington was listless from start to finish, never leading by more than 2 points, which was during the opening minutes. They were down by as many as 19 points.
Washington also shot just 31.2 percent from the field, while allowing the Sun to shoot 47.4 percent. Even though the Mystics outrebounded the Sun, 37-31, they also only dished 13 total assists while the Sun dished 22 themselves.
Aaliyah Edwards led the Mystics with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Myisha Hines-Allen added 10 points off the bench. For the Sun, DeWanna Bonnerscored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
The Mystics will continue their homestan when they host the Chicago Sky at Capital One Arena this Thursday. Tip off is at 7 p.m. ET. See you then.
