Stefanie Dolson led the Mystics with 18 points
Following a blowout victory over the Dallas Wings on Saturday, the Mystics completed the weekend sweep, taking home a 92-84 victory, their fourth of the season.
Dallas’ Natasha Howard went off in the first half, dropping 20 points on 2-2 from three. Her counterpart, Arike Ogunbowale, kept pace with 15 points of her own, leading Dallas into the halftime break with a five-point cushion.
Stefanie Dolson led Washington in the opening half with eight points, snatching four boards to keep her squad close. Despite the Mystics drilling eight of their 17 first-half three-point attempts, Dallas’ distinct 22-12 advantage on the glass was the difference maker.
Myisha Hines-Allen nailed consecutive baskets to open the half, trimming Dallas’ lead to one. After a back-and-forth couple of minutes, Washington found its rhythm, outscoring the Wings 10-4 to close the frame on top, 75-65.
The Wings mounted a late comeback, drilling consecutive threes to cut Washington’s lead to six. Karlie Samuelson said enough of that comeback on the next possession, drilling a clutch jumper for two of her 13 points to ice the victory.
Dallas simply had no answer for Stefanie Dolson, who had her way down low all afternoon. Washington’s center led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds as the Mystics picked up their second win over the Wings in as many days.
Howard and Ogunbowale combined for 49 points, but Washington’s team effort trumped terrific individual performances from Dallas’ stars.
Washington was victorious on Sunday, taking home a 92-84 win.
