Washington sent a pair of second-round picks to Houston for the 20-year-old wing
The Washington Wizards acquired F Cam Whitmore from the Houston Rockets in exchange for two second-round picks, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Washington traded a 2026 second-round pick (via Chicago) and a 2029 second-round pick (via Sacramento) to Houston to acquire Whitmore, as reported by The Athletic’s Joshua Robbins.
Whitmore, who turns 21 on Tuesday, averaged 9.4 points and 3.0 rebounds on 44.4% FG and 35% 3pt in a limited role with Houston last season.
The Wizards add a talented, high-upside wing to their pool of young talent. Whitmore joins a core of players 21 years old and younger that includes: Tre Johnson (19), Will Riley (19), Bub Carrington (19), Bilal Coulibaly (20), Alex Sarr (20), AJ Johnson (20) and Kyshawn George (21).
Houston selected Whitmore with the No. 20 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Washington now rosters nine first-round picks from the previous three drafts, which is impressive considering only three of those picks were their own and six were acquired via trade.

The Wizards still own 14 second-round picks through 2032. The 2026 second-round pick they sent to Houston was acquired in 2023 when they traded the No. 35 pick (Julian Phillips) to Chicago for a pair of future second-round picks. The other pick they sent to Houston, a 2029 second-round pick they acquired by trading Jonas Valanciunas at last year’s trade deadline, completed the deal.
Whitmore is a Maryland native, attending Archbishop Spalding High School before playing college ball at Villanova.

ESPN reported that Houston worked with Whitmore to find a preferred destination and ultimately landed on the young Wizards, who provide Whitmore with a better chance at earning legitimate playing time.
Washington now rosters 16 standard NBA contracts. They’ll need to get that number down to 15 by opening night, which makes corresponding moves likely.
The Wizards have a plethora of depth at the wing position, which includes Khris Middleton, Bilal Coulibaly, Kyshawn George, Justin Champagnie, Corey Kispert, Will Riley, Dillon Jones, Jamir Watkins, and now, Whitmore.
