Bey was drafted 19th overall by Detroit in 2020 and spent the last year and a half with Atlanta Hawks.
The Washington Wizards have reached an agreement with F Saddiq Bey on a three-year, $20 million contract, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bey is a native of Largo, Maryland and played his high school ball at Sidwell Friends.
Bey is still just 25 years old coming off a season in which he averaged 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks. His shooting numbers dipped from the previous season where he shot 40% 3pt, making just 31% of his threes in 2023.
In March of 2024, Bey tore his ACL, missing the remainder of Atlanta’s season. ACL tears likely take 9-12 months to fully heal, plus an addition time period to get back into game shape. Bey will miss a good portion of the Wizards season, if not all, while he rehabs his knee injury.
Nonetheless, Bey is a physical wing that has shown an ability to space the floor with his outside shooting. At just ~$6.6M a year, GM Will Dawkins negotiates another team-friendly deal, adding Bey to Washington’s roster.
With Bey’s arrival, Washington now has some roster decisions to make. With Tyus Jones’ likely departure, coupled with Anthony Gill’s free agency, a lot needs to be determined before October.
