Washington is now starting to get towards filling one of their key vacancies.
The Washington Wizards will start interviewing candidates for their head coaching vacancy later this week or next week, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
It’s interesting that the Wizards would officially start this process about a month after their regular season ended. But at the moment, the only other NBA teams with vacancies are the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, who fired their head coaches, Darvin Ham and Frank Vogel, respectively, in recent days.
There was one other head coaching vacancy with the Charlotte Hornets. Boston Celtics assistant coach Charles Lee was hired just yesterday.
We put out a big list of potential coaches the Wizards could be considering for an interview. which you can see here. We will see if any candidates besides interim head coach Brian Keefe get one in the coming days.
