The Wizards Snap a 3-Game Losing Streak with a Massive Win Over the Timberwolves

November 29, 2022 by Maryland Sports Blog

The Washington Wizards snap a 3-game losing streak with a huge, 142-127, win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Washington is now 8-4 and averaging 112 points per game when playing in the District this season.

Kyle Kuzma, who missed the last game with lower back pain, returned to the starting five on Monday. Kuz finished the night with 23 points on 56% shooting from the field, though he had some questionable shots early in the game.

However, a massive night from Porzingis engines the Wizards’ win. The Latvian 7-footer scored a career-high 41 points while shooting 66% from the field and 60% from downtown. This is the Porzingis the Wizards traded for back in 2021.

Bradley Beal tallied another 20+ point night, scoring 22 points in the win. Brad was feeling it from the mid-range, especially on his signature step-back shot. He also dished out 5 assists to top off his efficient night.

Now as a team, the Wiz were extremely deadly offensively, shooting 57% from the field, 48% from deep, and amassing 31 assists. They were able to force 18 turnovers, 12 of which were steals, but only scored 10 points off those turnovers.

Defensively, Washington’s bigs were fantastic, holding Rudy Gobert and KAT to 27 points combined. They were also able to accumulate 5 blocks. One of the only holes on the defense was the one Anthony Edwards was opening in his route to a 29-point night.

With the win, the Wizards move to 11-10 and now move to 7th in the Eastern Conference. They will hit the road again, traveling to Brooklyn on Wednesday for a matchup against Kevin Durant and the Nets. Tip-off for that game will be at 7:30 pm EST.
