The Wizards will retain their first-round pick by virtue of missing the playoffs, Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington notes. The pick this year was lottery protected, stemming from a 2020 trade with the Rockets. The Knicks now own the pick, which is top 12 protected in 2024, top 10 protected in 2025 and top eight protected in 2026. If none of those convey, the Knicks will receive two second-round picks in 2026 and 2027.
