Sounds like Dylan Strome to WASH, 1x$3.5M. There was a lot of interest

Dylan Strome Signs Contract With Washinton

Over his six-year NHL career, Strome has played for the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks. He has put up 67 goals and 103 assists for 170 career points in 273 career games. He was originally drafted in the first round, third overall of the 2015 NHL draft by the Arizona Coyotes. In 2018, Strome was packaged with Brendan Perlini for Nick Schmaltz. Strome was also nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for the adversity he faced between injuries and getting healthy scratched. Additionally, he was tied for the second most hat tricks in the NHL in the 2021-2022 season.

What He Brings to the Table

Though Strome struggled with consistency of production and even being in the lineup, he has shown that he doesn’t give up no matter what. The 25-year-old was able to persevere and turn things around mid-season. Teammates of Strome’s commented on how he didn’t let the pressure get to his head. And how he didn’t bring the negativity into the locker room. After a coaching change, Strome was able to take control back of his offensive production. Not only did he start putting up points, but he also became more reliable in face-offs. Strome ended the 2021-2022 season with a 52% face-off percentage.

Another strength of Strome’s is his puck handling. He is able to move the puck and make things happen. He tallied 47 takeaways this past season. Despite being a less physical player, Strome is defensively sound. He could easily become a well-rounded two-way player with the right tools. Additionally, in the right environment, Strome’s game is going to continue to elevate as he gets more experience in the years to come.
