Ben Standig reports that the Commanders are releasing veteran DE Clelin Ferrell on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming deadline to trim rosters down to 53 players. Ferrell, 28, was selected by the Raiders with the No. 4 overall pick out of Clemson in 2019. ESPN’s John Keim reports the Commanders are releasing QB Sam Hartman. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero adds Hartman is expected back on the practice squad if he clears waivers. The Washington Commanders announced 30 cuts to get the roster down to 53 players, as well as leaving G Samuel Cosmi on the reserve/PUP list to start the season.  Cosmi will miss at least the first four games before he’s eligible to return.
