Four-star and top-50 prospect in the 2026 class, Latrell Allmond, is not satisfied with where he is as a player just yet. This summer, he expects to change that.
“I’m just looking to make my name known,” Allmond told ZAGSBLOG. “Just because the past couple summers just haven’t been what I wanted to be. So this summer I’m just going in there, leaving it all out on the floor every time I play. Leaving it out there, selling out for my teammates. And the most important goal is just winning. Winning for my guys, winning for the team, the program. That’s just the main goal, winning.”
So far, Allmond has been a force on the court as his team at 3SSB, Team Loaded, sits at 4-4. The 6-foot-9 center has averaged 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for his squad, and he expects to keep producing.
“There’s nothing I can’t do,” Allmond said. “I’m not going to say there’s nothing I can’t work on or sharpen up, but there’s really nothing I can’t do on the floor. I’m a positionless player. I can run the offense if I want to, but that’s not where I’m needed. I’m just a positionless player, I’ll put it like that.”
While Allmond’s game is packed with big man skills, his calling card is pure energy.
“My motor leads to offensive buckets, offensive transition buckets, defense,” he said. “So my motor just starts up everything. That goes with my jump shot, me finishing at the basket, me talking to my teammates, me battling for loose balls, rebounding. So I’d say my motor is the key to everything.”
That motor, combined with his all-around play, has garnered the attention of multiple high-profile programs in college basketball. Coaches from Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Virginia all came to see his play at 3SSB, Allmond said. Specifically, Indiana’s Darian DeVries, Oklahoma State’s Steve Lutz and Virginia’s Ryan Odom were the head coaches who watched, along with several others and Power Five assistants.
Allmond plans to attend an official visit at Indiana from June 17-18. He’s also taken unofficial trips to Georgetown, NC State (old staff) Oklahoma State, Rutgers and Tennessee. Here’s his breakdown of some of the schools involved.
Indiana: “I know it’s a big big basketball school. I’m excited to learn and willing to learn June 17-18 just to get a little bit better feel for the school, learn more about it, get a feel for the coaching staff. One of my guys, coach Kenny Johnson, he’s been following me for the past eight months. Over the March Madness, he had went to Indiana. There’s just been a connection over there still. He’s just been telling me that I fit in that offense for sure with their pistol offense and their five-out offense. So I’m just looking to go there and learn. Just learn more about the program and coaches and be open ears to everything.”
Tennessee: “It was amazing. I got to see a football game. I got to be around the players, see how they interact with each other. I actually got to watch them go work out, you feel me? So just seeing how they approach the game, how they approach their daily life, just to see how that works, it was good for sure. And the campus was amazing.”
Rutgers: “It was great. I got to meet coach [Steve] Pikiell. He’s a really good guy very energetic guy. He seems all in on me, so I’m going to continue to have my options open.”
Georgetown: “I’ve been in DC a couple times and have been up there. That’s where coach Kenny Johnson recently was before he went over to Indiana over the March Madness period. I still have a connection with coach Ed Cooley. He’s been following me the past eight months. We’ve been keeping in contact, and I’m just keeping my options open.”
While Allmond has no set timeline for his recruitment, he hopes to begin narrowing down his selection of schools heading into his senior year. Before then, he hopes that coaches can see how team-oriented of a player he is.
“How much I love my teammates, how much I’m just a team player,” Allmond said. “Just how much I celebrate my teammates.”
As for his recruitment, he’s looking for a program that can be fully transparent with him at all times.
“Just a program to keep it 100 with me,” Allmond said. “Don’t just sell me a dream because I’m in your face. I’ve tried to tell all the head coaches who I have a sit down with, any visit I go to, or anytime I get on the phone with them, I always try to have an open relationship. An open, honest relationship with them, and tell them to be open and honest with me. If they’re open and honest to me, I’m open and honest to them.”
Allmond is the No. 47 player in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports. His favorite NBA player is Lebron James. His favorite hobby outside of basketball is playing video games with his friends, and he’s also a talented singer.
