WHAT’S AT STAKE

Georgetown – The Hoyas have been off for what seems like forever after being completely overmatched in every possible way during their 81-51 loss at Marquette on Dec. 22. Tonight begins a season-long 3-game BIG EAST homestand for Georgetown. While the Hoyas face long odds tonight, the next two games – DePaul (Jan. 6) and Seton Hall (Jan. 9) are their best chances at home wins in the league per KenPom. If they Hoyas are ever going to get it going within the league this season, this stretch seems like the most likely spot.

Creighton – The Bluejays have lost two-straight coming into tonight’s matchup and have fallen from the AP Top 25 for the first time this season. Coach McDermott’s squad was ranked as high as No. 8 just three weeks ago and can’t afford to drop a game at Georgetown if they have want to challenge for the top of the league. Baylor Scheierman, Trey Alexander and Ryan Kalkbrenner are once again leading a Creighton team that has Final Four aspirations after getting to the Elite 8 last season. KenPom still loves Creighton despite a very unexpected loss to UNLV nearly three weeks ago. Bluejays are 21st in both offensive and defensive efficiency.

SERIES STREAKING: Creighton has won four straight by double-figures over Georgetown since dropping the 2021 BIG EAST Tournament Title Game.

Note: For people asking why I use the twitter posts from the opposing teams, it’s because Georgetown’s opponents are usually the first to post on gameday.

OK, this is the place to leave your insightful comments….starting now!
