No surprises here—other than multiple games at McDonough!

Your Georgetown Hoyas have released their 2024-25 nonconference schedule. The opponents likely match up with fan expectations for a young Hoyas squad, but there are really no surprises—outside of two home games at the World-famous McDonough Arena! With 11 games slated, two will be away (WVU and ND) and 7 will be at Capital One Arena, home of the Kente lanes.

Georgetown releases its non-conference schedule! Highlights include home games against Lehigh and Wagner in McDonough Gymnasium. https://t.co/bO6rfRmfHv

If you look closely at the small print on the X/Twitter-posted graphic, fans will see the pound symbol (a/k/a hashtag) denoting two glorious November games on GU’s campus at McDonough—Lehigh (Wed, Nov. 6) and Wagner (Tues., Nov 26). Lehigh is ranked on KenPom as #263, Wagner at #292, and Georgetown at #192 (yes, based on last year’s roster and execution).

The key home highlight is Notre Dame (KenPom #118) on November 16th at Capital One Arena, which fans have known about for awhile. Fairfield (#175) may be a test any given year, but roster turnover makes them a question mark. The opener against their Patriot League foe, Lehigh, is not expected to be an insurmountable challenge.

The middle 5 games in late November and early December could hopefully be where fans learn about some depth in this Georgetown team with Mount St. Mary’s (#249) and St. Francis (#354) in the Georgetown MTE (separated by more than 24 hours this time.

Georgetown announced its non-conference schedule:

Nov 6 – Lehigh
Nov 9 – Fairfield
Nov 16 – Notre Dame

Hoya MTE:
Nov 20 – Mount St. Mary’s
Nov. 23 – St. Francis

Nov. 26 – Wagner
Nov. 30 – Albany
Dec. 2 – UMBC
Dec. 6 – @ West Virginia
Dec. 14 – @ Syracuse
Dec. 28 – Coppin St.

The Hoyas return to McDonough two days prior to Thanksgiving to host Wagner. After Turkey Day, on Saturday, Nov 30th, Georgetown hosts Albany (#244) and UMBC (#274) on Monday, Dec 2, each at Capital One Arena.

If there’s anything nice to say about Georgetown’s nonconference schedule, it’s this: There are fewer teams on it that finished outside the top 300 last season than I expected there to be back in March. pic.twitter.com/hIZ6cMGfB6

— Patrick Stevens (@D1scourse) August 27, 2024

The Hoyas take their first road trip and visit West Virginia (#144) on Friday, December 6th and then travel to Syracuse (#80) on the following Saturday (Dec 14).

Coppin State (#361) visits on Saturday, December 28th but (post-COVID) BIG EAST play has recently started as early as December 16-19th, so perhaps CSU breaks up a couple conference games.

Preseason T-Rank isn’t everything, but the Georgetown schedule features zero games against top-60 teams and eight buy games, all against teams projected 230th or worse. https://t.co/HDFaasSdsD
