The grad transfer has led the Hoyas on both ends of the floor

Fans of the Georgetown Hoyas are receiving welcome news as graduate transfer G/F Micah Peavy has been named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. This recognition underscores the significant impact the graduate student has had on the Hoyas this season. The only downside is that it highlights our limited time watching Peavy suit up in the Blue and Gray Kente.

Throughout the regular season, Peavy has demonstrated consistent excellence, leading the team in conference scoring with an average of 19.2 points per game and averaging 16.5 points overall. He has taken over games and willed Georgetown to multiple victories.

Beyond his offensive contributions, Peavy has been a catalyst for Georgetown’s defense, leading the conference with 2.3 steals per game. His defensive pressure and ability to generate turnovers have been a noticeable factor in the team’s competitiveness. He has

Peavy’s overall contributions include averages of 5.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He started all 31 regular-season contests, providing consistent versatility as a guard/forward.

His scoring consistency is evident in his 24 games reaching double figures, including 14 instances of scoring 20 or more points. He also recorded four double-doubles during conference play.

Through the month of February, Micah Peavy averaged:

24.2PPG, 6.5RPG, 5.3APG, 3.2SPG, shooting 49.6% from the field and 47.1% from three.

A standout performance came against Providence on February 19th, where he achieved a remarkable stat line of 30 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and six steals, a feat unmatched by any other Division I player since 2014.

Micah Peavy joins a distinguished group on the 2024-25 All-BIG EAST First Team:

  • Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton
  • Micah Peavy, Georgetown
  • Kam Jones, Marquette
  • Zuby Ejiofor, St. John’s
  • RJ Luis, Jr., St. John’s
  • Eric Dixon, Villanova

This selection marks a significant milestone for the program, as Peavy is the first Hoya to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors since Jessie Govan in the 2018-19 season. This is the 29th such honor in Georgetown’s history.

Potential veteran transfers should take note of Peavy’s roll and relationship with Ed Cooley.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of Peavy earning his fifth BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection earlier today. The league acknowledged his performance in Georgetown’s final week of regular-season play, where he averaged 24.0 points on 56.3% shooting, including an impressive 60.0% from beyond the arc, along with 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. This performance included a key role in the 75-73 victory over Villanova, where he scored 19 points with five three-pointers, marking the program’s first regular-season sweep of the Wildcats since the 1992-93 season. In the subsequent game against DePaul, Peavy led all scorers with 29 points and secured a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Looking ahead, the seventh-seeded Hoyas will face tenth-seeded DePaul in the first round of the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, March 12th. Peavy’s leadership and all-around game will be crucial as Georgetown enters the postseason.
