Georgetown announced this Thursday that Patrick Ewing will not return as the men’s basketball coach.
Ewing, a program legend, had a 75-109 record in six years with the Hoyas. Unfortunately, he just couldn’t get the job done.
Now that Ewing is officially out, Georgetown is ready to begin its search for a new head coach.
According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Penn State head coach Micah Shrewsberry has emerged as one of the “leading candidates” for Georgetown’s job opening.
Goodman added that Rick Pitino is currently not under consideration for Georgetown.

I’m told Rick Pitino is currently not under consideration.

Shrewsberry would be a savvy hire for the Hoyas. After going 14-17 in his first season with the Nittany Lions, he already has 21 wins this year.
Penn State can punch its ticket to the Big Ten Championship with a win over Indiana this Saturday afternoon.
If the Nittany Lions continue their impressive run, the outside noise surrounding Shrewsberry will only get louder.
