Georgetown has made a major hire for its men’s basketball program.
Per multiple reports, it has hired Providence head coach Ed Cooley to replace Patrick Ewing after the latter was fired about a week and a half ago.
Georgetown and Cooley had been discussing a contract earlier in the day and it resulted in the two sides agreeing on a deal.

It’s happening. At worst, I think Cooley will bring the Hoyas back to being a perennial NCAAT team. Ceiling can be debated, but Georgetown needs a floor raiser and Cooley is definitely that.

In 12 seasons as Providence’s head coach, Cooley won 242 games and led the program to the NCAA Tournament seven times.
