Expectations for the Cleveland Browns’ offense are sky-high heading into the 2021 season — especially with the return of dynamic wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Throughout the offseason/preseason, quarterback Baker Mayfield has lauded Beckham’s performance as he recovers from last year’s devastating ACL injury.
During a press conference on Thursday, the fourth-year QB continued that praise for his No. 1 receiver.
“Obviously his catching ability speaks for itself, but I think people forget how truly fast he is,” Mayfield said. “To be able to take the top off defenses — safeties have to worry about that.
“So teams are going to have to defend it — pick their poison. Because we obviously are a physical, run-first mentality team and that’s not going to change no matter who we have out there at receiver. But he adds an element where teams are going to have to decide.”

With Beckham returning to join Jarvis Landry on a talented wide receiver unit, the Browns’ two-way offense is looking like one of the most dangerous in league.
In 2020, the Cleveland rushing attack, led by returning RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, ranked No. 3 with 148.4 yards per game. And with an improved passing attack heading into 2021, Mayfield is ready to unleash this “pick-your-poison” offensive unit.
Beckham was limited in Wednesday’s practice, but should be ready to go for the Browns’ Week 1 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
