Chiefs Have Announced Justyn Ross' Medical Status

One of the biggest surprises from this year’s NFL Draft was Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross going undrafted. However, he will get a chance this summer to show that he can make an impact in the pros.

Ross, who was diagnosed with a congenital fusion in his spine, has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.

On Tuesday, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach revealed that Ross has been medically cleared for football activities.

“With Justyn, everyone kind of knows the story. He’s certainly a really talented individual that has gone through his share of injuries at Clemson. One thing, trying to go back to last year and the Trey Smith set up, I mean, I’ve always said that our docs are on the more conservative side” Veach said, via Chiefs Wire. “We spent a lot of time, and I know our doctors at KU spent a lot of time talking to the experts that dealt with Justyn. He’s cleared.”

When healthy, Ross was a big-time playmaker for Clemson. He finished his college career with 158 receptions for 2,379 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Kansas City’s depth chart at wide receiver is quite crowded at the moment. Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are all on track to be on the Week 1 roster.

If Ross flashes his potential in training camp though, he could potentially earn a roster spot.
