History is being made on Sunday during the Daytona 500.
For the first time ever, there are four Black team owners competing in the race. There are cars backed by Michael Jordan, Brad Daugherty, Floyd Mayweather, and John Cohen.
History in the making.

Cars that are backed by Jordan and Daugherty were guaranteed entry due to cup charters. Cars that are backed by Mayweather and Cohen qualified into the 500 as open entrants.
This is massive for the sports world as it comes during a time when there’s a lot of conversations around the lack of diverse team ownership groups.
Emmitt Smith is also launching a full-time NASCAR team, though he won’t be competing in this year’s Daytona 500.
The NASCAR world absolutely loves this news.

Brad Daugherty needs more recognition, he has been here for a while. But what other professional sport makes this possible? None,” another fan tweeted.

Love seeing #NASCAR leading the way for more diverse ownership in our major sports organizations and leagues.
For this reason and many more, it’s going to be a great #DAYTONA500! https://t.co/eMqQ6a7izk

And they are fielding five cars. Now the next thing is to win this race and have more driver diversity in the race and the sport. https://t.co/ezs5c4tsgm
