The Baltimore Ravens lost a pair of dynamic running backs to injuries this offseason in J.K. Dobbins and Justice Hill. In an effort to bolster their backfield, the front office signed Le’Veon Bell to the practice squad.
Bell is no longer an All-Pro tailback at this stage in his career, but the Ravens are very familiar with his skillset. After all, he spent most of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On Thursday afternoon, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh shared his thoughts on the Bell signing. He also provided an update on how Bell looks so far at practice.
“Le’Veon’s a guy I think we’re very familiar with,” Harbaugh said. “Obviously, played against him so many times and so many highly competitive, emotional games. It was fun to have him in for the workout. He had a good workout. Practiced yesterday, did a good job. So, yeah, we’ll have a process with him. He’s excited, he’s learning, and we’ll see where it goes.”

During the 2020 season, Bell had 254 rushing yards and 99 receiving yards for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Although he’s not on Baltimore’s active roster, Bell could actually suit up for the team’s season opener on Monday night.
Harbaugh told reporters “there’s a chance” Bell could be activated for the Ravens’ showdown with the Raiders. The bulk of the carries, however, will go to Gus Edwards and Ty’Son Williams.
