Kyrie Irving heard it all game long from the Boston Celtics fans during the opening contest of the Brooklyn Nets’ first round Eastern Conference playoff series.
The Nets guard sounded off in his postgame press conference, saying that if the Celtics fans are going to give it to him, he’s going to give it right back.
“The same energy they have for me, I’m gonna have the same energy for them. And it’s not every fan…but when people start yelling, p–sy, b—h and f–k you, there’s but so much you can take as a competitor.”

Former NBA star turned Turner Sports analyst Shaquille O’Neal reacted to the situation with Irving on Sunday night.
“You know what’s going to happen in Game 2? They’re going to be talking more smack,” O’Neal said on TNT.

That’s probably going to be the case.
Still, you have to respect Irving for being honest about everything.
“At the age of 44 I’m still trying to figure out why professional athletes that get paid should just man up when you are getting called every disrespectful name in the book. Correct me if I’m wrong but Bill Russell hated Boston for a long period of time right????” one fan tweeted.
“Kyrie literally said it’s fun, and they run with a totally different narrative lol,” another fan tweeted.
“He didn’t say he’s hurt by it, he’s just saying that he gives as good as he gets,” one fan added.
One thing is for sure: Game 2 will be fun.
