Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn’t mince words when asked about Dillon Brooks’ Flagrant 2 foul on his guard Gary Payton II.
After the first quarter came to a close, TNT sideline reporter Jared Greenberg asked Kerr about the physicality that the Grizzlies brought to start the game.
“No, that wasn’t physical. That was dirty,” Kerr said.
Early in the first quarter, Brooks was ejected for a hard foul on Payton as he went up for a fast-break layup. Brooks’ arm swiped across Payton’s head as he was midair, causing him to crash awkwardly to the floor.
Multiple reporters present at tonight’s game report that Kerr screamed “Get the f— out of here” toward Brooks and the Memphis bench.
After undergoing X-Ray testing, it’s been determined that Payton will not return in tonight’s game due to an elbow injury.
Just moments after this Flagrant 2 ejection, Draymond Green was elbowed in the head by Grizzlies big man Xavier Tillman. Green, who was ejected for a Flagrant 2 of his own in Game 1, returned to the contest after receiving stitches on a cut above his eye.
