Super Bowl 56 TV Ratings Are Out: NFL Fans React

February 15, 2022 by The Spun

The NFL honoring the All-Time 100.

The television ratings for Super Bowl 56 are out and they are way up compared to last year’s game.

The Kanas City Chiefs fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-9 in that contest which saw 91.6M people tune in on TV only. This year’s Rams-Bengals Super Bowl had close to 100M people tune in.

Rams/Bengals Super Bowl (TV only): 99.2M up from last year’s TV-only number of 91.6M.

This makes sense for multiple reasons. For one, Tom Brady wasn’t playing in this game as some casual fans are likely tired of seeing him in there.

Second, this game was between two teams that haven’t made the Super Bowl that often. This was the first time that the Bengals have played for a championship since 1988.

F0r the Rams, it was only the second time since 2002 that they had played in this game.

NFL fans aren’t surprised by these ratings since the league always draws the most viewership out of any sport.

😳😳😳Add in digital streaming and that’s probably around 110-115 million I’d guess. https://t.co/LZwX1k9EDq

If you move the game to Saturday, you lose 25% of that. https://t.co/e7qjDLWMUP

Well that’s weird. I thought the ratings were going to be awful and that nobody wanted to see the Bengals play in the Super Bowl 🤷🏻‍♂️ https://t.co/FWyt0yBoY1

People want to watch the Bengals 🙂 https://t.co/oM9YYHuROK

So it’ll be over 100M once when streaming is added.

The game went down to the final seconds as the Rams stopped the Bengals on fourth-and-one to win, 23-20. It was their first championship in two decades, while the Bengals are still searching for their first one.
