Travon Walker is about to get a pretty sweet rookie contract from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Per Field Yates of ESPN, Walker is going to sign a four-year deal that will see him get $37.3 million of guaranteed money. The deal will also include a signing bonus of $24.3 million.
Some may say this is expensive, but this is the going rate for players that are picked at No. 1 overall.
Walker was Jacksonville’s selection as the team opted to go with him over fellow pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson. Walker had a great year with Georgia as he helped lead the program to its first National Championship since 1980.
He finished the 2021 season with 37 total tackles (19 solo), six sacks, and two passes defended. He’ll look to set career highs in all of those categories now that he’s in the NFL.
The NFL world isn’t surprised that Walker “secured the bag” as the kids like to say.
He’ll make his Jaguars regular season debut on Sept. 11.
