A 47-year-old man who was riding a bicycle in Midtown-Edmondson died early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, and a 9-year-old was injured in a Saturday hit-and-run, according to Baltimore Police.
Police said in a news release that officers responded at about 12:25 a.m. Sunday to the West Franklin and Payson streets and found the bicyclist suffering from life-threatening injuries. He died at the scene.
Investigators from the city police department’s CRASH team are probing the fatal crash, after which the striking vehicle fled the scene, police said. Those with information are asked to contact detectives at 410-396-2606.
Hours earlier, just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the intersection of South Stricker and West Baltimore streets in Southwest Baltimore’s Franklin Square neighborhood for a call reporting that a child had been struck by a vehicle, police said.
A 9-year-old suffered minor injuries in a crash, after which the striking vehicle also fled the scene, police said. The parents declined to have medics transport the child to a hospital, police said.
